More quality of life in the countryside
Progress through electric power generation, with this mission,
Cooperativa Regional de Energia Taquari Jacuí – Certaja Energia (Regional
Cooperative of Energy Taquari Jacuí-Certaja Energy) played an important
role on the development of the central region of Rio Grande do Sul. By
taking electricity to the countryside, the cooperative increased the quality
of life of the population and grew together with them. The increase on the
agricultural production, and the contention of the rural exodus were only
some of its work positive results.
Since its foundation, in 1969, their business has got stronger, and Certaja
Energy has decided to diversify its activities, and amplify its participation in the
market. In 1975, it started to work on the lasting assets segment. In the middle
of 1993, it incorporated to the group Cooperativa Agrícola Mista (Mixed Farm
and Cattle Raising Cooperative) – which used to operate in the felds of food,
agro-veterinarians products, and rice improvement agro-industry.
This growth fostered the business’ division, and, in 2008, Certaja
Development was founded. So, two cooperatives appeared, they had
different social purposes, were juridically independent, but gathered the
same members. The newest of them (Certaja Development) started to
answer for recently incorporated activities, such as the rice mill, besides
power generation, and conduction of electric services.
The promotion of social projects for strengthening the bond with the
members, clients, and community was also part of Certaja Development’s
attributions. Meanwhile, Certaja Energy continued to work to guarantee the
distribution of electric power to 19 municipalities of the region, assisting
basically 24 thousand people, with a 4 thousand kilometers network.

O progresso pela geração de energia
elétrica. Com essa missão, a Cooperativa
Regional de Energia Taquari Jacuí
(Certaja Energia) teve papel importante
no desenvolvimento da região central do
Rio Grande do Sul. Ao levar energia ao
campo, a cooperativa aumentou a qua-
lidade de vida da população e cresceu
junto com ela. O aumento da produção
agrícola e a contenção do êxodo rural fo-
ram apenas alguns dos refexos positivos
da sua atuação.
Desde sua fundação, em 1969, os
negócios ganharam força e a Certaja
Energia resolveu diversifcar suas ativida-
des e ampliar sua participação no mer-
cado. Em 1975, começou a trabalhar
no segmento de bens duráveis. Já em
meados de 1993, incorporou ao grupo a
Cooperativa Agrícola Mista – que operava
nos ramos de alimentos, produtos agro-
veterinários e agroindústria de benefcia-
mento de arroz.
Esse crescimento incentivou a di-
visão dos negócios, com a fundação da
Certaja Desenvolvimento, em 2008.
Surgiram, então, duas cooperativas, de
razões sociais distintas, juridicamente in-
dependentes, mas reunindo os mesmos
associados. A mais nova delas (Certaja
Desenvolvimento) passou a responder
pelas atividades recentemente incorpora-
das, como o engenho de arroz, além da
geração de energia e a condução dos ser-
viços elétricos.
A promoção de projetos sociais para
o fortalecimento do vínculo com coope-
rados, clientes e comunidade também
fazia parte das atribuições da Certaja
Desenvolvimento. Enquanto isso, a
Certaja Energia continuava trabalhando
para garantir a distribuição de energia
elétrica a 19 municípios da região, aten-
dendo praticamente 24 mil pessoas, com
uma rede de 4 mil km.
