The Constant investment in agricultural research, and on personal
qualifcation are the formula for Agrária’s success– a cooperative with
head offce in the district of Entre Rios, in Guarapuava, center-south
region of Paraná.
The success of the cooperative is closely linked to the ity and
professionalization of the social board, which answers for 100% of the
entity’s purchase and sales today.
Another important reason for Agrária’s good performance is the quality
and effciency of management, combined with a complete infrastructure,
which includes: a wheat mill; a rations factory; an oil and soy bran; a corn
industry, besides one of the biggest malt factories of the world, Agromalte.
Agrária has more than 60 years of action, and it also invests on the
development of plantation that is more productive, and more adapted
to the soil and to the climate of the region. Since the mid 1990’s, this is
the job of Fundação Agrária de Pesquisa Agropecuária-Fapa (Agrarian
Foundation of Farm and Cattle Raising – Fapa), whose focus is the culture
of soy, corn, barley, wheat, and oat. The information generated by Fapa’s
experiments help on the planning of the members’ crop, and they even
originate new plantations.
The cooperative has also strong social action, paying for half of the
expenses of Hospital Semmelweis, the only hospital of Entre Rios district.
This important medical assistance unit is open to the whole community,
and it was built by the cooperative in 1992 to offer free assistance, 24 hours
a day, to those residents in the region.

Os constantes investimentos em pesqui-
sa agrícola e na qualifcação de pessoal são
o segredo do sucesso da Agrária – coopera-
tiva com sede no distrito de Entre Rios, em
Guarapuava, região centro-sul do Paraná.
O êxito da cooperativa está intima-
mente ligado à fidelização e profissio-
nalização do quadro social que, hoje,
responde por 100% das operações de
compra e venda da entidade.
Outra razão importante do bom desem-
penho da Agrária é a qualidade e a efciên-
cia da gestão, aliadas a uma infraestrutura
completa, que inclui: um moinho de trigo;
uma fábrica de rações; uma indústria de
óleo e farelo de soja; uma indústria de
milho, além de uma das maiores fábricas
de malte do mundo: a Agromalte.
Com mais de 60 anos de atuação, a
Agrária investe, ainda, no desenvolvimento
de cultivos mais produtivos e adaptados ao
solo e ao clima da região. Desde meados da
década de 90, essa função cabe à Fundação
Agrária de Pesquisa Agropecuária (Fapa),
cujos focos são as culturas de soja, milho,
cevada, trigo e aveia. As informações ge-
radas pelos experimentos da Fapa ajudam
no planejamento da safra dos cooperados e,
até mesmo, originam novas cultivares.
A cooperativa também tem uma forte
atuação social, custeando metade dos
gastos do Hospital Semmelweis, o único
do distrito de Entre Rios. Aberto a toda
a comunidade, esse importante posto
de atendimento médico foi construído
pela cooperativa em 1992 para oferecer
atendimento gratuito, 24 horas por dia,
aos moradores da região.
