Unimed-Rio practices humane medicine, which is ethical, and
aligned with the best practices of relationship with the client, it has
been the leader on the market of health plans of Rio de Janeiro for
many years. It has over 40 years of tradition with impressive numbers:
850 thousand clients, more than 5,200 member-doctors, in almost 50
specialties, present in every region of the municipality.
Being aware of the best practices of management, Unimed-Rio
collects prizes and acknowledgments. The company believes in quality
of life, and on the habilitation of its members, and twice, it has been in
the ranking of the best companies to work at, in Brazil –such ranking
is elaborated by the institute Great Place to Work. The institution was
also the frst in Brazil –and the 12th in the world –to receive maximum
classifcation on its sustainability report, organized within the standards
recommended by Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an institution with

For three consecutive years, Unimed-Rio received the
certifcation of “Citizen Company”, granted by the Regional Council
of Accountancy of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CRC-RJ). The title
is more like a certifcation of companies’ commitment with social
responsibility practice. On top of that, the cooperative won the
Prize Djalma Chastinet Contreiras 2010, as an acknowledgment of
its own Unimed system aiming at the singular units
with the best managerial performance of social
responsibility. This is an example to be followed
by all Brazilian cooperatives.
