Half a century in favor of Paraná
Coffeeproductionandcommercializationhasalwaysbeentheprotagonists
in the history of Mandaguari, a municipality located in the countryside of
Paraná. Good part of the dwellers’ life turns around the cultivation of the
grains. And, more than a century ago, in order to get stronger, a group of 20
coffee farmers from the city founded Cooperative Agropecuária e Industrial
do Município – Cocari, (Farm and Cattle Raising, and Industrial Cooperative
of the Municipality – Cocari). Objective? Get stronger to sell the product at fair
prices, increasing the fnancial result of every member.
Lately, Cocari has opened to the market, and it started to stock and
commercialize soy, corn, wheat, and, of course, coffee. Industrialization is
also a recent reality for the cooperative, which counts with 12 production
units. They are: the Animal’s Food Pet and Ruminants Factory; the Bird
Food Factory; two Cotton and varied mixed thread Spinning Factories; the
Industrial Unit of Birds; the Technological Center of Cocari (CTC); the Coffee
Unit; three Units of Seed Amelioration (UBSs); the Poultry Raiser Training
Center (CTA), besides the Unit for Sugar-Cane Production (UPC).
Besides being concerned about its own development, the cooperative is
also committed with its community. Therefore, it looks for ways to contribute
with the growth of the municipalities where it is inserted, through social
projects that aim at the personal and professional growth of the population.
The social and environmental projects that stand out are: Cultivatin
Citizenship Project, Olho D’Água Project, Campaing Solidary Cocari,
NGO ort and Social Alliance of Mandaguari, and Program Young
Cooperative Apprentice.

A produção e a comercialização de
café sempre foram protagonistas na
história de Mandaguari, município lo-
calizado no interior do Paraná. A vida
de boa parte dos moradores gira em tor-
no do cultivo do grão. E para se fortale-
cer, há mais de meio século, um grupo
de 20 cafeicultores da cidade fundou
a Cooperativa Agropecuária e Industrial
do Município, a Cocari. Objetivo? Ga-
nhar força para vender o produto a pre-
ços justos, potencializando o resultado
fnanceiro de todos os associados.
Nos últimos anos, a Cocari se abriu
ao mercado e passou a armazenar e
a comercializar soja, milho, trigo e,
claro, o café. A industrialização tam-
bém é uma realidade recente da coo-
perativa, que conta com 12 unidades
de produção. São elas: a Fábrica de
Rações Pet e Ruminantes; a Fábrica
de Rações Aves; duas Fiações de al-
godão e mesclas diversas; a Unidade
Industrial de Aves; o Centro Tecnoló-
gico Cocari (CTC); a Unidade de Café;
três Unidades de Benefciamento de
Sementes (UBSs); Centro de Treina-
mento Avícola (CTA), além da Unidade
de Produção de Cana (UPC).
Além de se preocupar com o pró-
prio desenvolvimento, a cooperativa
também é comprometida com a sua
comunidade. Por isso, busca formas
de contribuir com o crescimento dos
municípios em que está inserida,
por meio de projetos sociais que vi-
sam ao crescimento pessoal e profis-
sional da população.

em destaque: Projeto Cultivando Cida-
dania, Projeto Olho D’Água, Campanha
Cocari Solidária, ONG – Aliança Espor-
tiva e Social de Mandaguari e Programa
Jovem Aprendiz Cooperativo.
