Para potencializar as atividades empresariais na
região oeste do Paraná, os participantes da Associa-
ção Comercial e Industrial de Cascavel (Acic) cria-
ram, em 1999, o Projeto Empreender – cujo foco
era o desenvolvimento de novas tecnologias e proje-
tos de negócios de informática. A iniciativa deu tão
certo que, pouco tempo depois, veio expandir os ne-
gócios. E o único caminho possível era a aquisição
de produtos e serviços fnanceiros de forma rápida
e com pouca burocracia. Foi, então, que surgiu a
ideia de criar uma cooperativa de crédito para aten-
der às demandas do segmento.
Nascida com o objetivo de atender exclusivamente
a empresários da área de informática, a Sicoob Casca-
vel começou a operar efetivamente em julho de 2001,
com a autorização do Banco Central do Brasil (BC).
Inicialmente, os serviços se restringiam à captação e a
empréstimos, e de forma limitada. Os primeiros anos
de funcionamento foram mais difíceis, mas a iniciativa
do BC, de permitir a criação de cooperativas de peque-
nos, microempresários e microempreendedores, mudou
aquela realidade. Com a ampliação do público, os resul-
tados começaram a fcar mais expressivos e a coopera-
tiva começou a trabalhar na modalidade livre admissão.
Em 2010, após a crise fnanceira internacional, a
Sicoob Cascavel teve uma retomada impressionante,
chegando a 8,5 mil cooperados e R$ 45 milhões de
recursos administrados. A meta, desde então, foi tra-
balhar para crescer sempre mais. O projeto é atingir os
R$ 300 milhões até 2016 e estar presente em todas as
cidades de sua área de abrangência.
O sucesso da entidade é consequência direta da
participação dos associados nas tomadas de decisão.
Diversas organizações da sociedade civil de Cascavel
fazem parte do quadro e ajudam a trilhar os cami-
nhos da cooperativa. Além dos benefícios de coope-
rados, elas contam, ainda, com o seu apoio na reali-
zação de ações de responsabilidade social. O Sicoob
Cascavel não poupa esforços para ajudar essas enti-
dades, entre elas, o Albergue Noturno André Luiz, o
Centro de Referência Especializada em Assistência
Social à População em Situação de Rua (Crespop)
e a União Paranaense de Combate ao Câncer (Uo-
peccan). Despertar o espírito empreendedor entre os
jovens é outra prioridade da cooperativa.
Investment in the future
To strengthen business activities in the west region of the Paraná, the participants
of Associação Comercial e Industrial de Cascavel –Acic (Commercial and Industrial
Association of Cascavel-Acic) created, in 1999, Empreender Project– whose focus
was the development of new technologies and informatics business projects. The
initiative was so successful that, shortly after that, it expanded its business. And the
only possible way was the acquisition of products and fnancial services, in a fast and
little bureaucratic way. It was, then, that the ideia of creating a credit cooperative came
up to fulfll the segment demands.
Sicoob Cascavel was born with the exclusive objective of assisting entrepreneurs of
the informatics area, and it started to effectively work in July 2001, with the authorization
of the Central Bank of Brazil (BC). At frst, the services were restricted to the captivation
of loans in a limited way. The frst years of work were more diffcult, but BC’s initiative
of allowing the creation of cooperatives of small, micro-businessmen, and micro-
entrepreneurs changed that reality. By amplifying the public, the results started to
become more expressive, and the cooperative started to work as a free admission one.
In 2010, after the international fnancial crisis, Sicoob Cascavel recovered quickly:
it reached 8.5 thousand members, and R$ 45 million resources administered. The
goal, since then, was to work in order to grow even more. The project is to reach R$
300 million until 2016, and be present in every city of its area of range.
All this success is a direct consequence of the members’ participation on decision
making. Different organizations from the civil society of Cascavel are part of the board,
andhave helped the cooperative’s path. Besides themembers’ benefts, they also count
with its support on the execution of social responsibility actions. Sicoob Cascavel does
its best to help these entities, among them: Albergue Noturno André Luiz (André Luiz
Night Hostel), Centro de Referência Especializada em Assistência Social à População
em Situação de Rua –Crespop (Center of Specialized Reference in Social Assistance
to the Population on Street Situation), and União Paranaense de Combate ao Câncer
– Uopeccan (Paraná Union of Combat to Cancer). To awaken the entrepreneurial spirit
among youngsters is another priority of the cooperative.
