da Cooperativa de Crédito dos Produtores
Rurais da Região de Caratinga (Sicoob
Credcooper), em Minas Gerais. Desde
1983, ano em que foi instituída, ela tem
cumprido felmente a sua missão de aten-
der às necessidades fnanceiras dos agri-
cultores locais. Durante o percurso, pas-
sou por alguns momentos de turbulência,
vencidos pela força da cooperação.
O primeiro grande desafo veio nove
anos após a sua criação, quando a insti-
tuição fcou inativa por um período de 12
meses. Foi preciso muita coragem para
retomar suas atividades, em 1993, com
apenas R$ 0,02 (dois centavos) em caixa.
Munidos do compromisso com a cooperati-
va, somada a uma visão arrojada e empre-
endedora, seus associados não se deixa-
ram vencer. Ao contrário, se fortaleceram
diante das difculdades e conseguiram
virar o jogo. Em 2008, encontraram um
novo desafo: o de se tornar uma coopera-
tiva de livre admissão.
Graças ao empenho de todos e ao
compromisso da cooperativa com os
associados, o Sicoob CredCoop transfor-
mou-se em uma das maiores cooperativas
de crédito do estado de Minas Gerais, com
patrimônio líquido de R$ 15 milhões. A
prova de que as cooperativas continuam
fortes mesmo em tempos de crise.
Turning the page to win the game
To overcome challenges is part of the history of
Cooperativa de Crédito dos Produtores Rurais da Região
de Caratinga -Sicoob CredCoop (Credit Cooperative of Rural
Producers of the Region of Caratinga – Sicoob CredCoop),
in Minas Gerais. Since 1983, when it was instituted, it has
been faithfully fulfilling its mission of assisting the financial
needs of the local agriculturists. Along its way, it went
through some turbulent moments that were surpassed by
the power of cooperation.
The first great challenge came after nine years of
its creation, when the institution became inactive for a
period of 12 months. It was necessary a lot of courage to
restart its activities in 1993, with only R$ 0.02 (two cents
of real) in cash. Invested with its commitment towards
the cooperative, added to a bold and enterprising view,
its members did not give in. On the contrary, they got
stronger in face of the difficulties, and managed to change
the game. In 2008, there was a new challenge: to become
a free admission cooperative.
Thanks to everybody’s efforts, and to the cooperative’s
commitment with the members, Sicoob CredCoop became
one of the biggest credit cooperatives of the state of Minas
Gerais, with a net asset of R$ 15 million. It proves that
cooperatives continue to be stronger even in times of crisis.
